Let your creativity fly in this Make & Take workshop with life-long woodworker, craftsman, & teacher, DJ Kitzel. He will help you create & perfect your unique creation. By making a birdhouse that is a functional work of art, you will bring beauty and charm to your property for years to come. Both through the birdhouse itself, and the feathered friends it will attract.
Making a unique birdhouse is a creative and fulfilling pastime that will help you practice & develop your woodworking skills & tool use. Add a little paint, hardware, & found objects from nature & suddenly you have an avian villa!
Workshop Overview:
DJ Kitzel has created yet another awesome workshop to help participants hone in on some basic woodworking skills and tool use. All tools, fasteners, paint, and instruction provided to build your "base" birdhouse.
Over the course of the day, DJ will guide you through the building process. Make your birdhouse unique by adorning it with found objects from nature, or treasures you've collected over the years. Enjoy a walk on Hunt Country's grounds and wooded areas to find natural elements to include.
This workshop is designed for any skill level woodworker who sees beauty in natural materials, found objects, and enjoys creating from scratch...
And loves birds of course!
Preparation:
Participants should dress appropriately for woodworking, wear sturdy shoes.
Please bring your own safety glasses, workgloves, and any tools in your personal collection you would like to use.
Ideas for found objects and treasures to bring: Antlers, pinecones, uniquely shaped sticks, stones, shells, vines, feathers, beads, buttons, wire, colorful spigot handles and other outdoor hardware, old door handles or drawer pulls, antique broken or unused tools, old wood yard sticks, old cookie cutters, garden tools, old metal gears... Really any funky old relics you haven't had the heart to throw away and thought you'd use someday for something... We love to recycle and reuse!
